Garrya Resort, Mu Cang Chai

Luxury hotel resort in the mountains

Oh my gosh, where do we even start with this hotel?! Garrya Mu Cang Chai is hands down one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at! When you see the pictures, you’ll see why.

Imagine waking up surrounded by mountains and rice terraces, having breakfast with the most beautiful views and spending the afternoon relaxing in an infinity pool overlooking it all. It genuinely felt like a dream.

The entire resort was finished to such a high standard, from the gorgeous rooms to the incredible food and attention to detail. There was so much to do too, with everything from yoga and wellness experiences to activities around the resort.

Getting to Mu Cang Chai from Hanoi takes around 6-8 hours in a car or minibus, depending on the mountain roads and how many stops you need. The good news is that Garrya can organise a shared transfer for you, picking you up directly from your hotel in Hanoi and taking you all the way to the resort. They can also arrange your return journey back to Hanoi or an onward journey to Sapa. Just be warned the roads are incredibly windy, so if you suffer from travel sickness PLEASE remember your tables! We forgot ours and honestly paid the price.

After a very long and winding jounrey from Hanoi (which nearly finished us off), arriving somewhere this beautiful made it all worthhile.

We could have easily stayed here much longer. If you’re planning a trip to Mu Cang Chai and fancy treating yourself to somewhere really special, we honestly couldn’t recommend this hotel enough.

Crosswater verdict: Absolutely worth the trip

We paid £478.59 for 3 nights which included an incredible breakfast buffet.

Our transfer from Hanoi to the hotel cost: VND 1,100,000 per person per way = VND 4,400,000 (which is around £130)
