The Coach House, Middleton Lodge

We have been traveling around and sampling the very traditional and delicious Sunday lunch. When judging, we look for a very delicious crispy Yorkshire pudding (what can we say, this is a necessity when you’re from Yorkshire), the beef has to be pink and not chewy, the cauliflower has to be cooked through and not hard and wood-like, and the veg have to taste like veg, not watery mushy tasteless items.

When we went to Middleton Lodge our excitable cocker spaniel for a quiet lunch, we did have high expectations BUT boyyy, it exceeded them. From the very generous portions, to the tender meet and delicious vegetables, everything was amazing. We even managed to order an extra Yorkshire pudding with no questions or judgement (for £1 extra). Everything has so much flavour, the it is very rare to have cooked greens and still be able to taste each individual component. The gravy was so rich and delicious. The surprising dish of a Yorkshire salad was even yummy and worked.

I don’t know what their chefs did, but it was absolutely worth the money. My partner enjoyed it so much, we booked to go back the following week.
